Richard Sammis

has worked as a criminal defense lawyer, trying fifteen murder cases over four decades, while also teaching political science at a local college. He has been active in Community Theater and has authored two plays, the first of which he directed and produced. He plays guitar and sings in local clubs.

Richard’s new book, Joshua and the Late Police, is set in a summer camp, inspired by Richard’s twelve summers as a camper and counselor in northern Michigan. Richard has hosted eleven international students—the catalyst for populating his story with international characters. Richard majored in English Composition at DePauw University, where he studied under renouned writer, John Jakes. He graduated from Ohio Northern University Law School with a Juris Doctor degree and is a member of the Michigan Bar Association.

Richard lives in St Joseph, Michigan, walking distance from the beaches of Lake Michigan. He is raising two dachshunds and enjoys cycling and kayaking when not practicing law or writing.
